Meme Coins2026-09-10 10:51:31Meme Coin Cycles Recur, and Short-Term Hype Should Not Be Mistaken for TrendA commentary published by Foresight uses recent online talk about a token allegedly launched by former U.S. President Joe Biden’s son to revisit the earlier Trump token frenzy on Solana. The piece recalls how a team said to be close to Donald Trump launched the Trump token in January last year, triggering intense speculation across crypto circles. Traders shared outsized gains online, and the token quickly drew attention and capital away from the then-popular AI + Crypto narrative. Melania later followed with a token of her own, also launched before Trump formally took office, and the article says its wealth effect was also notable, though weaker than Trump’s. The author argues that the later performance of the Trump token undercut the bullish case many traders once made for it. Despite Trump’s actions in office that, according to the article, aimed to advance the U.S. crypto sector, those developments did not extend the token’s narrative or support its price. The commentary says Trump fell from above $40 to below $2 by the time of writing, with discussion around it fading sharply. Its conclusion is blunt: meme coin participation is a game of speculation, and market participants should not confuse emotional bursts around celebrity-linked tokens with durable trends.710
